§ 01 Request the deletion
To request deletion, send an email to info@virtualperformancetool.com using the email address associated with your VPT account. This applies to the Virtual Performance Tool web app, the iPad and Mac app and the Android app: they all use the same VPT account.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data first, say so in the same email and we will send it before deleting. If the email button does not open your mail program, write to the address above with the subject VPT Account Deletion Request.
§ 02 How we verify it is you
We only act on a request that comes from the email address registered on the account, so that nobody can delete an account that is not theirs.
- We reply to that address and ask you to confirm the request by replying to our message.
- If the request does not come from the registered address, or we cannot match it to an account, we may ask you a simple question about the account (for example the name it was registered under).
- We never ask for your password, a payment card number or any other secret. Do not send them.
§ 03 How long it takes
Once the request is confirmed, we delete the account and confirm it to you by email. We do this within 30 days of receiving your request, the period set by the GDPR. If you do not confirm the request, we cannot delete the account.
§ 04 What is deleted
The deletion is a real deletion. We delete your account and the personal data associated with it:
- identity and contact data: name and email address;
- authentication data: your password hash and your sign-in sessions;
- your optional profile data (nickname, Discord ID) and your preferences;
- the content you saved in your account, such as your fleet profiles, library files and flight plans;
- your subscription status linked to the account.
We do not keep a copy of your account data, and we do not keep your identity data after the deletion.
§ 05 What we are legally required to keep
Only the following is kept, and only because the law requires it:
- Accounting records (invoices and payment transaction records for purchases you made): kept for 7 years from the transaction date, as required by Belgian accounting law. They are kept apart from the service, used for nothing else, and deleted at the end of that period.
- Security logs, which may contain an IP address, are not tied to the deletion: they expire automatically on a rolling 6 months basis and are not kept longer.
Nothing else about you is retained. See also our Privacy Policy, § 08.
§ 06 Subscriptions and purchases
Mention any active subscription in your request so that it is handled together with the deletion. A subscription bought through Apple is managed by Apple: cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings, because deleting your VPT account does not cancel it for you.
